July 2022 President’s Perspective

(continued from July 2022 Newsletter)

Helping out at FoodChain. This volunteer opportunity was organized by Pace Cooke Emmons, our second vice-president. Mary Bradshaw, Linda House, Barb Ellerbrook and Anita Reddy were on hand to help. After their volunteer shift, the group had lunch at Smith Town Seafood where the lettuces and other leafy greens are grown at FoodChain.

Preparing lunch for the young people at Arbor Youth Services. Thank you to Linda House for planning this opportunity. Linda and I were joined by Amelia Wisner. We enjoyed having lunch with these great young people who are experiencing homelessness. I had planned to bake a cake, but unfortunately, that didn’t work out. My tale of a failed cake is on my blog:  https://medium.com/crows-feet/a-cake-riseth-before-it-falls-49a2b5004333

Speaking of Arbor Youth Services, the local nonprofit posted this shout-out to WCCK on its Facebook page: “We are incredibly grateful to the passionate ladies at The Woman’s Club of Central Kentucky. Together they have brought in essential supplies to care for our youth, cooked a meal and even awarded us a $4,000 grant to ensure we have the resources to continue to help kids who come from abuse or face homelessness.”

Planting American flags in front of headstones at Camp Nelson. Among those providing this service were Linda Cunningham and Amelia Wisner.
